Schneider Electric Spain developed its offices at Bac de Roda (Barcelona) under a WELL certification strategy covering 5,100 m² across seven floors, achieving WELL Gold in 2025.
The workplace concept integrated health and wellbeing into operational building management. Key measures included biophilic design strategies through finishes and furniture selection, implementation of cleaning protocols using health-conscious products, and continuous environmental monitoring.
To comply with WELL performance verification requirements, Schneider Electric required a continuous indoor air quality monitoring system capable of integrating with its own building management ecosystem. The solution needed to support operational traceability, automated reporting, and HVAC optimisation aligned with measurable environmental parameters.
Ensuring continuous IAQ monitoring compliant with WELL requirements while integrating real-time environmental data into Schneider Electric’s building management infrastructure required a solution capable of combining performance verification, operational interoperability and automated reporting within a unified system.
The solution included:
- Deployment of MICA WELL devices across seven floors.
- Strategic placement across 5,100 m² of open-plan offices, meeting rooms, reception areas and shared spaces.
- Secure integration with Schneider Electric’s building management and security systems.
- Automated data reporting supporting WELL documentation and credit achievement.
The distributed monitoring architecture ensured full coverage of interior areas within the WELL scope while maintaining interoperability with Schneider Electric’s operational systems.
- Centralised environmental data integrated into Schneider Electric’s building systems.
- Data-supported HVAC operational adjustments based on monitored IAQ conditions.
- Automated reporting facilitating WELL performance verification and credit documentation.
- Increased transparency of indoor environmental performance across 5,100 m².
- Improved coordination between facility management and wellbeing objectives.
The integration of IAQ monitoring into the building management infrastructure allowed Schneider Electric to operationalise environmental performance rather than treating certification as a standalone process.
