A leading national banking institution in Portugal initiated the development of its new corporate campus in Lisbon as a strategic step toward strengthening employee wellbeing, operational efficiency, and its long-term ESG commitments. Designed as a large-scale, modern workplace with more than 25,000 m² of built area, the campus brings together innovative architecture and advanced building systems to support healthier, high-performing office environments.
As part of this vision, the institution aimed to ensure consistently high standards of indoor environmental quality across all workspaces. Achieving this required reliable, real-time insights into indoor conditions to support informed decision-making, optimize building performance, and reinforce the bank’s commitment to sustainability and wellbeing at a corporate level.
To support the client’s objective of achieving WELL Building Standard Platinum certification, an indoor air quality monitoring strategy was deployed to ensure continuous compliance with the highest requirements for Indoor Air Quality, occupant health, and environmental comfort across the corporate campus.
The solution was based on the deployment of MICA WELL devices, specifically designed to meet WELL Certification criteria and provide reliable, real-time environmental data throughout the building.
Technical scope of the solution included:
- 54 MICA WELL units installed in representative indoor areas across the campus.
- WiFi connectivity, ensuring stable and reliable real-time data transmission.
- Surface wall-mounted installation, enabling fast deployment with minimal architectural impact.
- Continuous monitoring of all key WELL IAQ parameters, including temperature, humidity, CO₂, TVOCs, particulate matter, formaldehyde, ozone, and NO₂.
This monitoring infrastructure provided the institution with precise, real-time visibility into indoor environmental conditions, forming a robust technical foundation to support certification requirements and long-term wellbeing and sustainability objectives.
- Healthier and more comfortable indoor environments for employees and visitors, supported by continuous IAQ monitoring.
- Full alignment with WELL Platinum Indoor Air Quality requirements, reinforcing the client’s commitment to wellbeing and high environmental standards.
- Data-driven ventilation management, enabling informed decisions based on real-time IAQ insights.
- Improved operational efficiency through continuous monitoring and early detection of air quality deviations.
- Long-term reduction of operational costs thanks to maintenance-free IAQ sensors with a 10-year lifespan.

Achieving WELL Building Standard Platinum certification is a strategic objective for the client’s new corporate campus. Through the deployment of MICA WELL devices, the project meets all critical Indoor Air Quality performance requirements defined by the WELL standard.
This includes continuous control of ventilation effectiveness, carbon dioxide thresholds, particulate matter levels, temperature, humidity, and chemical pollutants, ensuring consistently high environmental conditions across the campus. The certification process reinforces the client’s long-term commitment to employee wellbeing, sustainability, and high-performance building design.
